This & That

these are the crows i bought at halloween, and i’ve decided to leave them in the office and decorate them for each holiday… the majority of my coworkers seem to love them, but a few are creeped out by the crows.

woo who. i took today and tomorrow off so i could paint. i’ve had some success so far. i slept in, but after i taped an envelope to my trash can for the garbage people with some $$ in it.. then they never took the money. wtf! maybe they can’t….

anyway.. i’ve also received a bunch of things from my neighbors this season… a candle, a bucket of cookies, and most recently a bag of chex mix, cookies, chocolatey pretzel stuff.. yummmm..

i feel like patty is not giving me enough valid feedback on the progression of my painting… so i’m going to post my progress here.. feel free to comment.. it’s appreciated.

this week/weekend flew by.. i’m hoping my time off before xmas makes time slow down a little bit.

i have one more thing to buy for xmas and plan to do that after work tomorrow. things are all coming together! i’m getting excited to see audrey and her parents next week! and thanks to mother nature it’s looking like we’ll have a white christmas afterall.

one of my projects for this weekend was to put together a plan for snow tires. i learned a few years ago what a monumental difference snow tires make in the winter, and because i blew out one of my exotic snowtires last year, i needed to buy one more of those before i put them back on. however, i didn’t see any dunlop 205/50r17s runflat snow tires on tirerack.. i wasn’t really a fan of them anyway.. they slowed me down too much. shiiiiit. but they were nice when i did get a flat and was able to drive another 3 miles on the highway to safety.

tonight is the season finale of survivor… i *hope* brett doesn’t win. he really was not in this season at all until last week. russell is so much more deserving.

when they go back through all the old torches in the finale is my least favorite part of the show.

one more thing i need to do tonight is fix my sewing machine again. i *fixed* it a while back with a chopstick in the hole to hold the thread.. but i accidentally broke it a couple weeks ago. i’ve been subconsciously thinking of a solution for over a week now, and it came to me in my sleep last night. because i superglued the chop stick into the hole, and then broke it off right at the base i am going to need to drill out that hole, and i plan on drilling it a little deeper so that i won’t need to superglue this next chopstick. i might even use a metal chopstick.

i got done 90% of what i wanted to accomplish this weekend.. i’ll call that a win.

here are some of the highlights.

1. dinner with the hunts and my old roommates.  teagy potter’s little personality is coming out so much.. she’s adorable.. and zoe girls eyes are getting lighter… maybe she’ll have blue eyes..

2. watching MK sleep on my couch. MK stayed with me fri night after her dinner with her friend. we chatted, then started to watch jersey shore and she passed out on the couch. it was a good 20 minutes of catching up though. well worth the drive. :)

3. breakfast with MK. to round out her visit we had breakfast at stellas.. it was quite delicious.. then she had to jet off so she could be at her parents house at 5pm… it usually only takes me a little over 2 hours to get to albany. apparently it takes MK eight.

4. visiting with the fischers. watching teagy and katie play was cute. katie in general is just fun to watch and play with. SF also gave me some cool candle light window holders. thanks SF. and as usual PF gave me some electronics lessons. thanks PF.

5. i fixed my outdoor light timer.. now it goes on at dusk and off at midnight. score!

6. after that i scrambled to make my house presentable for the guests i had later that night. i had a few peeps over before the house party we were all going to.. we caught up, ate pizza and had some adult beverages at the bar.. it was fun.

7. BCs holiday party. what a fun time… it was walking distance from my house, and attended by many former NC9 coworkers. it was very nice to catch up with everyone.. his house was also gorgeous…. the cutest part was the “gift bag” we all received as we left. so thoughtful that BC is…

8. working in an empty office.. i had to go into work today to make some quick changes. it didn’t take too long, and it was kind of serene being in a dark empty office.

9. seeing teagy and santa. so teagy totally cried when she was handed over to santa for pictures. :) it was cute. so mommy had to be in them with her. lol…

10. unclogging my drain. on AHs advice i got some pipe “crystals” for fixing the backup in my tub drain.. i did it twice and it still wasn’t working real well… so i went to town with my plunger and some black sludge shot out the overflow drain and then it started making that sweet gargling water evacuating sound…. so i snipped the chain off the drain plug and put in a hair trap and look forward to showering in the future!

11. i grocery shopped. at the big wegmans… i can only find my good soups there.

12. i wrote out 90% of my xmas cards… wooo who. i’m almost done..

13. i updated this blog.

today is the 1 year anniversary of owning my house! woo who. i closed this day last year… :)
