This & That

i feel like i have been hit by a bus. :) i think i crammed a weeks worth of activities into a couple short days in NYC.

KT and i had great meals, great drinks, great talks and great laughs. we also saw a great play, spent a lot of money, walked our legs off, offended her roommate and slept very little.

we also went to EHs party, ate some REAL maraschino cherries, some expensive, salty dark chocolate, watched the muppets, tasted some of the best vegan/gluten free cupcakes ever.

i had time to visit with DG and check out his phat brooklyn heights pad. (how come everyone lives on the top floor?!)

oh, and i stopped at Crumbs bakery and got some of the most expensive delicious and worth it cupcakes ever…

on my way “out of town” i went out to long island to see BDK and her new baby darin. he was so tiny and cute.

i had a bagel with the most delicious cream cheese ever. it was light and fluffy.. oooo, i’m going to have dreams about it.

patty stayed with B&K, and was an angel.. i’m so relieved… and she even got a walk while she was there.. she’s so lucky.

i’m going to nyc this weekend… i’ll be staying in brooklyn for the first time..

lots to do this weekend… visit with KT, see a play, eat dinner, go to EHs party, hopefully KH will be there too, and round out the visit with a stop in queens to see new baby Kohel.

it’s going to be a pretty kick ass weekend. say a prayer i don’t lose my car keys this time.

i couldn’t be more excited to hear that E&Rs new baby is a boy!! i only have sisters, and have all but 1 girl cousins…

his name is ethan martin. :) martin was my nanny’s maiden name. he was born at 1:40 pm on friday january 15th. he weighed 7lbs 14oz and was 19″ long.

i got a call yesterday morning at about 720am.. i hate to hear my phone ring when i’m not expecting it, especially early in the morning, at work, or late at night. my heart skips a beat and i immediately panic, “who’s in the hospital?!”

i was happy to hear that this call was for a happy reason.. EBHs water had broke, 2 weeks early.

she sent along pictures (see them here)

but yesterday evening the nurses noticed he had quick labored breathing and was grunting… that indicated to them that he had some fluid in his lungs. the have him in the NICU till monday (at least) hooked up to machines and giving him antibiotics. :( poor baby. they think that this is a result of being born early and so quickly (she only pushed for 5 minutes). it’s not that uncommon and the doctors don’t seem to be too concerned. i’m praying that he recovers like a superstar and E&R get to hold him again soon. i spoke to EBH this afternoon and while understandably sad, she did have a sense of humor about him “already being a problem child”.  *smile*

so.. say some prayers!

i hadn’t realized it was a week since i posted last.. shiiiiiit. this past weekend i hosted a party. it was great fun. i need to do it more often. patty must have been nervous though, literally the second guests started arriving she threw up on my couch… i was so pissed. i think she saw me scurrying around all day cleaning, and saved her vomit till i was done. :(

i’m watching american idol and i think i love the country girl from Lenore, TN. she just said, “man, i’m going on an arrow-plane!”

i bought all the fixings for lettuce wraps and because i forgot tofu at the store tonight i figured i would cook the frozen chicken breasts i had in the freezer (even though freezing them made them look more bloody).i looked up a recipe online and it recommended frying them for 5 min on each side in HOT oil…. so i poured a bunch of sesame oil in the frying pan, put a top on it, and sat down on the couch, thinking i would hear it sizzling.

that was a wrong assumption.

when i didn’t hear sizzling after a couple of minutes i looked back and saw smoke pouring out from under the lid and the kitchen filling up with smoke. since i have experience with pans of oil being in flames on my stove, i knew enough NOT to take the lid off the pan.. i calmly removed it from the burner, and promptly brought it out to the driveway. that is where it will stay till tomorrow morning.

i hate chicken.

so after the shock of my phone bill wore off, i got a hold of verizon and changed my minutes to the next plan. moving up a plan also allowed me to be eligible to add 5 numbers to my “exempt” list. this is such great news. i was over by more than a hundred and seventy minutes… :( fingers crossed next month i stay within my minutes.
